Cassandra D Caldwell

Cassandra D. Caldwell, Ph.D., is the program director of the Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership program at Middlebury Institute of International Studies. She is an internationally renowned executive, faculty member, philanthropist, consultant, entrepreneur, and scholar.

Her areas of expertise include leadership, nonprofit management, diversity and inclusion, human resources, organizational theory and behavior, and research methods.

Caldwell studied corporate social responsibility in the Harvard Business School Executive Education program. She earned a Ph.D. in human and community resource development from The Ohio State University, a master’s in public administration from North Carolina Central University, and a bachelor’s in speech communication from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Caldwell has a keen focus on international education. She has been a visiting scholar in Ghana, South Africa, England, and Swaziland.  Her latest international academic appointment was The Oxford Round Table for Women’s Leadership at the University of Oxford. Caldwell has been invited to present on leadership topics in Japan, Morocco, South Africa, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Canada, Austria, and France.

She has been featured in many publications, including Black Enterprise Magazine, Miami Legacy Magazine, Profiles in Diversity Journal, HBCU Connect Magazine, INSIGHT into Diversity Magazine, and The Journal of Blacks in Higher Education.

In 2024, she established the Dr. Cassandra Denise Caldwell Endowed Fellowship housed in the Sonja Haynes Stone Center for Research in Black Culture and History at UNC Chapel Hill and the Dr. Cassandra Denise Caldwell Endowed Scholarship at NCCU. Both endowments are designed to serve first-generation North Carolina college students.

She serves on the advisory board for the Sonja Haynes Stone Center, UNC’s Alumni Committee for Racial and Ethnic Diversity, the Carolina Women’s Leadership Council, and NCCU College of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities.
